Outdoor Tap, Llave De JardíN
What is outside Tap
An outdoor tap, also known as an outdoor faucet or garden tap, is a water outlet that is specifically designed for outdoor use. It is typically located on the exterior wall of a building, such as a house or a garden shed. The outdoor tap allows easy access to water for various outdoor activities, such as watering plants, washing cars, filling buckets, or connecting hoses for irrigation.
Outdoor taps are often equipped with a threaded spout or nozzle, which allows for the attachment of hoses, sprinklers, or other watering devices. They may also have a valve or handle that controls the water flow, allowing you to turn the water on or off.
These taps are constructed to withstand outdoor conditions, including exposure to weather elements, and are typically made from durable materials like brass or stainless steel. They are designed to provide a reliable and convenient water source for outdoor use without the need to run hoses or pipes from indoor water outlets.
Outdoor taps are commonly found in residential properties, gardens, and public spaces, providing a practical solution for outdoor water needs.
How to install Outdoor tap ?
To install an outdoor tap, follow these general steps:
Choose the location: Select a suitable location on the exterior wall of your house or building where you want to install the outdoor tap. Ensure it is easily accessible and close to a water source.
Gather the necessary tools and materials: You will need a drill, appropriate drill bits, a pipe wrench, a hose bib or outdoor tap kit (including the tap, flange, and mounting hardware), pipe sealant tape (Teflon tape), and plumbing fittings.
Shut off the water supply: Locate the main water supply valve and turn it off to cut off the water flow to the area where you'll be installing the tap. Open faucets inside the house to drain any remaining water from the pipes.
Mark and drill the hole: Measure and mark the location for the tap on the exterior wall. Use a drill and the appropriate drill bit to create a hole through the wall for the water pipe. Ensure the hole is large enough to accommodate the pipe and fittings.
Install the tap assembly: Follow the instructions provided with the hose bib or outdoor tap kit. Typically, you will attach the tap to the flange, apply pipe sealant tape to the threads, and then connect the tap assembly to the water pipe protruding from the wall. Use a pipe wrench to tighten the fittings securely.
Test for leaks: Once the tap is securely installed, turn on the main water supply valve to restore water flow. Check for any leaks around the tap and connections. If you notice any leaks, tighten the fittings or use pipe sealant tape to ensure a watertight seal.
Mount the tap: Use the provided mounting hardware and screws to securely attach the tap assembly to the exterior wall. Make sure it is firmly mounted and aligned properly.
Install a backflow prevention device (optional): Depending on local regulations, you may need to install a backflow prevention device, such as a hose bib vacuum breaker, to prevent water contamination.
